October Updates: New Personalization Features in Customily (2026)

October was one of our biggest months for new features and improvements! 🚀 We packed this month with powerful updates designed to unlock new creative possibilities and help merchants sell more personalized products. We introduced Calendars 2.0 and Text to Shape, bringing exciting new ways to create unique designs, and revamped Cross-Selling to help merchants increase their average order value. We also improved Remove Background, expanded Pattern Repeat capabilities, and launched Roman Numeral Dates, along with many other enhancements to make personalization easier, faster, and more powerful than ever!

Cross-sell on the product page + discounts 📢 🏷️

Our cross-selling features have been updated to help you sell more and more!

What’s new:

• Cross-sell on the product page: matching products now can appear right on the product page, not only in the cart. Shoppers see each item with their own personalization already applied and can add it in one click.
• Discounts: reward shoppers for completing the set with a discount on the matching items.

Calendars 2.0: More Ways to Make It Yours 🗓️

More customization. More control. More ways to make your calendars your own. Our Calendars element just got a major upgrade! 🎉

With Calendars 2.0, you have much more control over how every part of your calendar looks and behaves. Previously, you could mainly customize the font and colors of the entire calendar, with limited control over which elements were displayed or where they appeared.

Now, you can customize individual calendar elements and decide exactly how your calendar should look.

You can control settings for elements such as:

• Month and year
• Day numbers
• Day initials
• Divider lines
• Backgrounds
• And more

Pattern Feature: Now Supporting Image Placeholders & Multiple Elements 🐶

Previously available for Text Box elements, Pattern allows you to automatically repeat an element across the entire canvas, creating seamless, repeating layouts with control over spacing and positioning. Now, you can take your patterns even further:

What's New?

1. Pattern Support for Image Placeholders: You can now create patterns using Image Placeholders, making it easy to build repeating designs with customer-uploaded images.

2. Create Patterns with Multiple Elements: Instead of creating patterns for each element individually, you can now select multiple compatible elements and turn them into a single pattern.

This means you can combine Text Boxes and Image Placeholders into a single pattern, making it much easier to create complex designs where multiple elements repeat together while maintaining their relative positioning.

New: Roman numeral dates 🏛️

Dates can now be shown in Roman numerals on your personalized products. They’re a classic look for anniversary gifts, wedding keepsakes, couple hoodies, engraved bracelets and more.

How it works: Your customers pick a date with the date picker, same as always, and the live preview shows it in Roman numerals right away.

Example: April 1, 2022 → IV · I · MMXXII

Fill Any Shape with Personalized Text 🔠

Create unique text designs that automatically fill a shape, whether pixel-based or vector. Customize every detail, including fonts, character settings, fill colors, outlines, shadows, and prefixes or suffixes. Choose your shape by uploading your own or selecting one from Customily’s Image or Vector Library.

Perfect for: Personalized gifts featuring meaningful messages, or heartfelt notes that fill shapes like hearts, stars, and more. Offer more creative personalization options to help your products stand out and attract shoppers looking for unique, meaningful gifts.

Outline Color Options for Image Placeholder 🌈

Give shoppers more control over their personalized designs!

Image Placeholder outlines now support multiple color options. Merchants can add colors manually or choose from their existing color libraries, allowing shoppers to select their preferred outline color instead of being limited to a fixed one.

Simplify Text to Image Personalization 🖼️

You can already use Text to Image effects on Image Placeholders to let shoppers create personalized images directly from your storefront.

Previously, shoppers had to write the entire prompt themselves, which made the experience quite open-ended and required them to know exactly what to ask for to get the desired result.

Now, store owners can set a predefined prompt directly on the Text to Image effect. You can use {prompt} to indicate where the shopper's input should be added, while keeping the rest of the instructions predefined.

Built-in Fallback for Face Cutout & Remove Background ✂️

We've added a built-in fallback for Face Cutout and Remove Background effects that use external APIs like Cutout.Pro and remove.bg.

If either service fails for any reason, Customily will automatically use its own built-in effects instead, at no additional cost.

To activate the Customily fallback, simply enable this option on the Integrations page of the app.

This is especially important during peak season, helping ensure shoppers can transform their images successfully and complete their purchases without being blocked by third-party service issues.
